UMY Breaks into Top 526 Best Universities in Asia QS AUR 2026

Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta (UMY) has achieved a significant milestone, rising to the 526th position in the QS Asia University Rankings (AUR) 2026. This advancement marks a notable improvement from the previous year when UMY ranked between 561 and 580. The university’s overall score surged from 17.0 to 28.7, highlighting their efforts in internationalization and enhancing academic quality in Asia. UMY’s rector, Prof. Dr. Achmad Nurmandi, emphasized that this achievement is the result of the hard work of the entire academic community, particularly in strengthening international collaboration. The significant rise in the International Research Network indicator from 5.9 to 29.0 demonstrates that the international research collaborations the university has been building have begun to yield tangible results. This remarkable achievement has been facilitated by a systematic strategy of internationalization, diligently pursued. The improvement in the International Faculty indicator, with a rise to the 42nd position in Asia, confirms the effectiveness of strategies such as engaging visiting professors and joint teaching programs.
