TNI AL Detains 5 Members for Assaulting Talaud Resident

The Indonesian Navy (TNI AL) has detained and started an investigation into five of its members accused of assaulting Berkam Saweduling, a resident of Talaud Regency, North Sulawesi, who works as a teacher. The TNI AL also evacuated the victim to Manado for more intensive medical treatment. The evacuation was conducted quickly by the Navy Health Command (Kodaeral) VIII team on Sunday, January 25, 2026. The victim, who suffered injuries during the incident, was transported by passenger boat from Talaud to Manado. Upon arrival in Manado, the victim was immediately referred to Prof. Dr. RD Kandou General Hospital for further treatment. The incident occurred on the night of January 22, 2026, at Melonguane Port. The situation escalated due to the consumption of alcohol by military personnel. Despite a reprimand from the victim, the five servicemen ignored it. Thanks to the TNI AL’s efforts, the situation is now under control.
