Pramono Warns Transjakarta After Blind Passenger Falls
In Jakarta, an unfortunate incident occurred: a visually impaired passenger using Transjakarta’s services for people with disabilities, known as Transjakarta Cares, fell into a drainage ditch. This happened because a staff member failed to assist the passenger to a safe area. Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung expressed regret over the incident, stating that passenger safety must be a priority, especially for those needing special assistance. He instructed the Transjakarta management to provide explanations and proposed measures to ensure safe travel for all passengers with disabilities.
The incident gained traction on social media, with a video capturing the moment the visually impaired woman ended up in dirty clothes after the fall. This incident highlighted the accessibility issues in public transport for disabled individuals. Transjakarta’s Head of Public Relations stated that the company will immediately start reviewing and improving its services.
Pramono emphasized the importance of integrating inclusivity and safety into the capital’s infrastructure and apologized for the inconvenience caused to the affected individuals. He reiterated the need for consistent monitoring and adaptation of transport solutions to ensure comfort for all passengers.
