Purbaya: Moody’s Assessment Should Consider Two Fundamental Aspects

Indonesia’s Finance Minister, Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa, expressed that the international rating agency Moody’s should account for key indicators in assessing Indonesia’s creditworthiness. Purbaya highlighted the importance of the country’s ability and willingness to meet its debt obligations. These indicators, he noted, are closely linked to the social and political stability as well as the direction of the nation’s economic growth. He mentioned that Indonesia’s rating remained at Baa2, above the investment grade, despite the outlook downgrade to negative. Purbaya also highlighted that the country’s economy is showing robust growth, with a 5.39% increase in the last quarter, exceeding previous periods. As the economy strengthens, he anticipates that the ratings will improve as well.
