Indonesian Cultural Awards 2025: Honoring Cultural Activists
The Indonesian Ministry of Culture held the Indonesian Cultural Awards (AKI) 2025 ceremony in Jakarta at the Ciputra Artpreneur venue. This event served as the climax for 2025, under the theme ‘Renjana Penggerak Budaya,’ symbolizing the flame that inspires the advancement of Indonesian culture.
This year, awards were distributed across eight categories, including ‘Maestro of Traditional Arts,’ ‘Pioneer and/or Innovator,’ ‘Children,’ ‘Media,’ ‘Indigenous Communities,’ ‘Literature,’ and the ‘Special Minister’s Award.’ Among those honored were Aliya from Malang, East Java, and Adhyastha from Surakarta, Central Java, who excelled in dance and singing.
The ‘Media’ category highlighted those dedicated to preserving cultural heritage. Notably, ‘Rumah Sri Ksetra’ from Palembang, which focuses on the cultural diversity of southern Sumatra, was recognized for its efforts in supporting ecology and traditional communities.
In ‘Literature,’ figures like Godi Suwarna were celebrated for their contributions to maintaining the Sunda language and culture. This underscores the importance of literary works as a means of preserving languages and cultures in the fast-paced modern age.
The Minister of Culture emphasized in his speech that such awards stimulate cultural development and reinforce the positions of cultural and artistic figures across Indonesia.
