Anugerah Kebudayaan Indonesia 2025 affirms the country's commitment to supporting cultural activists
In 2025, Indonesia’s Ministry of Culture once again held the Anugerah Kebudayaan Indonesia (AKI) ceremony, symbolizing the country’s cultural recognition. The event took place at Ciputra Artpreneur in Jakarta and marked the culmination of several award stages. This time, the Anugerah Kebudayaan Indonesia was awarded to cultural figures in the categories: Maestro of Traditional Art, Preserver, Pioneer and/or Innovator, Media, Children, Indigenous Peoples, and Literature. The diversity of categories highlights the significance of cultural contributions from tradition keepers to transformation agents. Minister of Culture Fadli Zon emphasized that the award acknowledges culture as a living ecosystem, functioning through the efforts of communities, cultural clubs, and artists. He added that the state supports without replacing these communities’ roles, affirming their significance to society. The award also served as an important reminder that cultural heritage remains a guarantee and hope in a rapidly changing world. Additionally, AKI 2025 activities establish a strategic cultural database that supports the development and transfer of knowledge to new generations. The award underlines the state’s long-term commitment to progressive cultural policy, fostering awareness of the importance of maintaining and developing Indonesia’s cultural identity.
