MIND ID Deputy Director: Downstream Processing and Midstream Strengthening are Key to Indonesia's Success

In his speech at a public lecture at the Bandung Institute of Technology, Deputy Director of PT Mineral Industri Indonesia (MIND ID) Dany Amrul Ichdan emphasized the importance of strengthening midstream and downstream sectors to increase the value of national natural resources. He pointed out that processing bauxite into aluminum can significantly contribute to industry development. Furthermore, with Indonesia’s rich nickel reserves, there should be a focus on building a national battery ecosystem to meet the needs of electric vehicles and energy storage systems. With limited domestic technology, MIND ID plans to collaborate with international partners to expedite technological development. However, every industrial initiative must impact community development and job creation, while also supporting the integration of small and medium enterprises into the supply chain. Dany also advocated increasing the national research and development budget through joint projects with universities, which will enhance the power of state-owned enterprises.
