Minister of Culture Calls National Imlek Celebration a Cultural Acculturation

Indonesia’s Minister of Culture, Fadli Zon, described the national Imlek celebration as a significant event reflecting the acculturation of cultures in Indonesia. The modern celebration of Imlek showcases the country’s openness to cultural diversity. Fadli Zon emphasized that the events related to Imlek, taking place from February 17 to March 3, 2026, will include lantern and culinary festivals, highlighting cultural exchanges. An important part will be open museums and the Imlek parade, symbolizing Indonesia’s diverse cultural influences. The merging of various national cultures, such as Chinese and Indian, at this event is crucial for promoting the idea of ‘Bhinneka Tunggal Ika’ (Unity in Diversity).
