TVRI to Broadcast 2026 World Cup for Free for Indonesians
The Indonesian public television broadcaster TVRI has announced that it will broadcast the 2026 World Cup matches for free for all Indonesian citizens. This announcement was made during a press conference in Jakarta, led by TVRI’s Director Iman Brotoseno. All 104 matches, from the group stage to the final, will be aired on TVRI Sport and TVRI Nasional channels from June 11 to July 19, 2026.
This decision was made possible after a lengthy process of securing broadcasting rights, emphasizing TVRI’s commitment to its public mission. Brotoseno noted that the broadcasts will be available for free through terrestrial broadcasting and may be accessed on other platforms depending on third-party operator policies.
TVRI aims to provide access to high-quality international content for all segments of society, including areas with low signal availability. “We want every Indonesian, wherever they are, to enjoy the world’s football moments,” Brotoseno stated.
Plans include organizing public viewings of the matches in various locations in collaboration with SMEs, which will boost the local economy. Amid ongoing recovery from natural disasters, the broadcasts are expected to serve as a source of optimism, encouraging society to move forward.
