KNKT Reveals Causes of Jetour T2 Incident on Jagorawi Toll Road

The National Transportation Safety Committee (KNKT) disclosed the results of their investigation into the incident where an electric vehicle, Jetour T2, caught fire after a severe collision on the Jagorawi toll road. The incident occurred on February 1, 2026, raising public concern about the safety of new automobiles. According to KNKT’s press release, the fire started after a significant side impact, causing the vehicle’s undercarriage to come into contact with the asphalt. The vehicle collided with an obstacle, suffering severe damage to the left front and rear parts. Nonetheless, the safety systems functioned as designed: airbags deployed timely, the vehicle structure remained stable, and doors could be opened post-crash. KNKT clarified the incident was not due to safety system failure. Peter Zhang, Director of Jetour Sales Indonesia, affirmed the investigation was fact-based and conducted objectively. He added that the vehicle complies with all safety standards, including ASEAN NCAP and ECE R153.
