A delegation of nineteen leading Australian investors and business groups has recently arrived in Jakarta to deepen investments and explore new opportunities in the partnership with Indonesia, one of Australia’s closest allies. This marks the fifth such mission since Prime Minister Anthony Albanese launched the ‘Invested: Australia’s Southeast Asia Economic Strategy to 2040’ in Jakarta in 2023. Led by Australia’s Special Envoy for Southeast Asia, Nicholas Moore, and Australia’s Business Champion for Indonesia, Professor Jennifer Westacott, the delegation met with multiple Indonesian ministers, associations, and leading companies. Participation in the 2025 Economic Summit and the inauguration of the ‘Indonesia-Australia Business Roundtable’ highlighted the significance of the partnership. The second edition of ‘Invested: Indonesia to 2040’, developed in cooperation with the Indonesia Business Council, offered investors current information and recommendations for investing in sectors such as green economy, digitalization, healthcare, education, and urban infrastructure. The Investment Deal Teams from the Australian Government, based in Jakarta, Singapore, and Ho Chi Minh City, play a crucial role in supporting investors. The importance of Australia’s engagement with Indonesia’s economic prospects was emphasized by CEO Austrade, Dr. Paul Grimes, and Professor Jennifer Westacott.
