In a significant scandal involving Indonesia’s Ministry of Communication and Digital, several employees, including nine from Komdigi, have been implicated in collusion with approximately 1,000 online gambling sites. Rather than blocking these illegal websites, the employees reportedly entered into agreements, receiving bribes of up to 8.5 million rupiahs per site. This revelation has sparked widespread public outcry and demands for strict reforms within the Ministry. Ministry head Meutya Hafid has pledged to conduct an internal investigation and enforce stringent measures to root out corrupt practices. This situation highlights the urgent need for strengthened oversight and transparency, especially in agencies regulating the digital space. As digital ethics and data protection become increasingly pressing issues, it is crucial to take proactive steps to prevent such occurrences in the future.
